Earth Day 2006 marked a year of accomplishment for Democratic governors across America. Yet America can do better. Our country depends too much on foreign oil, and it only takes a glance at the sign by the neighborhood gas station to see where thats gotten us.

Its time to fix that. Thats why Democratic governors have taken steps to move their states toward energy independence.

We can move and must move toward energy independence. Democratic governors are leading the way toward achieving this goal -- but even more progress can happen if Republicans in Washington get on board, or get out of the way.
